Amid increasing competition among media organisations seeking to capture Nigeria’s fast-growing digital audience, former Big Brother Naija stars took centre stage in Lagos last Thursday as gaming and entertainment company BetKing unveiled its new online content platform, BetKing TV, at an event held at the company’s Victoria Island headquarters.
The launch, attended by media executives, influencers, and entertainment stakeholders, introduced three original shows hosted by former housemates from the reality television show.
The unveiling featured previews of the platform’s debut programmes; Banter FC, K’s Kourt, and Playing Games, each aimed at different segments of Nigeria’s youth and sports audiences.
Reality TV stars Kulture and Denari will host Banter FC, a football-focused discussion show built around fan debates, online reactions, and match-day conversations popular on social media. Kaybobo fronts K’s Kourt, a sports analysis programme covering basketball, Formula 1, UFC, tennis, and other non-football sports.
Lifestyle-focused programme Playing Games will be hosted by Jasmine and Doris, with discussions centred on youth culture, social media trends, fashion, relationships, and viral online moments.
At the launch event, guests were shown previews from the upcoming shows while hosts and executives discussed the increasing demand for locally produced digital content tailored to younger audiences consuming entertainment primarily online.
Speaking during the unveiling, BetKing Nigeria’s Head of Marketing, Nengi Akinola, said the platform reflects the company’s evolving approach to audience engagement.
“Innovation has always been at the heart of everything we do, from how we show up through localised online gaming products like Danfo Lagos, JJBallX and Chicken Keke, to how we engage fans digitally and culturally,” she said.
“This initiative is a natural evolution of that journey. We are creating a platform that doesn’t just follow conversations but helps shape them, giving our audience content that feels authentic, entertaining, and truly reflective of their world.”
Akinola added that the company sees the platform as a way to deepen its connection with audiences beyond gaming.
“With this new platform, the company is strengthening its position beyond sports gaming by investing in original content and building a media platform that reflects and amplifies the cultural conversations shaping modern Nigeria,” she said.
Also speaking, Managing Director of KingMakers and Chief Executive Officer of BetKing, Gossy Ukanwoke, described the initiative as a reflection of the company’s evolving engagement strategy.
According to him, the platform represents a shift towards storytelling, entertainment, and community participation beyond traditional gaming interactions.
Other company representatives at the event also described the platform as part of a broader investment in digital storytelling, talent development, and original content production aimed at Nigeria’s growing online entertainment market.
