Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the state.

Mr Dan’iya, a longtime political associate of former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, expressed appreciation to party stakeholders, political leaders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him to lead the movement.

In a statement issued on Friday through his former Press Secretary, Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar, the former deputy governor described his emergence as a call to greater service and pledged his commitment to inclusive governance and the development of Sokoto State.

He specifically thanked Mr Tambuwal for his guidance, support and continued commitment to the political advancement of the state.

According to him, the growing support from elders, youths, women groups and political associates across the state reflects a collective desire for purposeful leadership and people-oriented governance.

“The confidence reposed in me is a huge responsibility which I deeply appreciate,” he said.

“I sincerely thank His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, party leaders, stakeholders, youths, women and supporters for their unwavering support. Together, we shall continue to work for the unity, stability and progress of Sokoto State.”

The Walin Sokoto also urged supporters of the movement to remain peaceful and united as political consultations and engagements continue ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
