Speaking from his parents’ house, the suspect emotionally narrated what happened as he sought forgiveness, saying he did not know what came over him.

He said a conflict erupted between the two and quickly escalated into violence that allegedly ended with the death of his friend.
“We were at a drinking spot. We started exchanging words, and he ended up telling me that he would report me to my dad. I came back home and begged him not to report me. I asked him to forget the incident. He left the house and went to the field. He broke a stick and hit me on the head.
A friend of mine happened to pass by and separated us. He told me to leave him alone. As I was walking away, the friend who hit me started following me. He almost hit me again, but I escaped. There was a young boy passing by with an object. I took it and hit him, and that was it. I do not know how serious the injury was,” he cried.

When did Alvin start drinking?
Alvin admitted he did not know the condition of his friend at the time, as he had been locked inside the house waiting for authorities to arrive and arrest him.
He said he knew he had injured his friend but did not realise the extent of the damage as he lamented the events of that day.
“We bought the alcohol together, courtesy of another friend, but this other friend wanted to expose me. To be honest, I do not normally drink, but I just found myself drinking. I started drinking in December last year.
I just want to advise young people to stay away from alcohol. I regret my actions. I am sorry to my friend. It was not me; I was not myself,” he said.
