Police have arrested a 22-year-old man over the killing of his 25-year-old former girlfriend in a stabbing incident that occurred along Kirichwa Road in Kilimani, Nairobi, on Thursday evening.

Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a troubled relationship between the two, who previously worked at the same money lending firm along Ngong Road.
In a statement by Usikimye, police say the pair had recently separated, with the woman reportedly leaving the suspect’s home in Kawangware and relocating to her aunt’s residence before returning to work after a period of absence.
According to preliminary findings, the suspect is alleged to have gone to work earlier in the day armed with a knife, raising suspicions of a planned attack. The woman is said to have been walking with colleagues heading towards the Argwings Kodhek area after work when the suspect trailed her before confronting her.
He is alleged to have stabbed her repeatedly before fleeing the scene, leaving her critically injured. Witnesses rushed her towards a nearby medical facility, but she collapsed just outside the clinic and died while receiving assistance.

Kilimani Sub-County Police Commander Patricia Yegon confirmed that members of the public quickly intervened and restrained the suspect before police arrived. She noted that he did not sustain injuries during the incident, adding that traces of blood on him were identified as belonging to the victim.
Police further stated that the suspect was taken to the hospital for medical assessment before being placed in custody.
He remains detained as detectives continue with investigations ahead of formal murder charges being preferred against him.
