A hook-up arrangement that started on a dating app ended in chaos in Gwarinpa, Abuja, after things turned violent when the guest refused to leave.

The incident has been making the rounds online, with many Nigerians discussing the risks of meeting strangers from dating platforms.

According to the host, the encounter began on Grindr, a dating app commonly used for gay hook-ups.

He said he had been chatting with a man who presented himself as a male model, sharing photos that matched that description. After arranging to meet, the man came to his house with the expectation of having sex.

That’s when the situation changed.

“He came to my house to have sex, I refused, asked him to leave. That’s when the problem started,” the host recounted.

He explained that when the person arrived, he realized it was a case of catfishing. The man was different from the photos on his profile.

Uncomfortable with the mismatch, the host said he refused to go ahead with any sexual activity and asked the visitor to leave immediately.

The request did not go smoothly. The visitor reportedly refused to leave and insisted that he must be paid for showing up. When the host stood his ground, the situation escalated.

According to the account, the man became aggressive, broke bottles inside the house, and scattered items around. In the process, he injured himself.

The host said the man’s refusal to leave and his aggressive behavior raised suspicion that he might be involved in “kito” – a term used in Nigeria to describe a set-up where someone is lured to a location and then robbed, blackmailed, or assaulted by a group. Kito cases have been reported in several Nigerian cities, often targeting people meeting through dating apps….See More
