This is the delight of legal practitioner and professor George Luchiri Wajackoyah as he celebrated his son’s academic milestone.

The elated father attended his son Obunga’s graduation ceremony abroad, sharing in the family’s pride and joy.

Wajackoyah’s son to be commissioned as Lieutenant Colonel

“Today we attended the graduation of our son Lieutenant Obunga at Campbell University, North Carolina. We are praying that he will soon be commissioned as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army,” Wajackoyah wrote.

He shared several adorable photos from the occasion, where he was joined by other family members to show their support for the young man.

They were all smiles as they posed for photos on the sunny day, congratulating their relative for a job well done.

“He has made us proud. A PhD is the way to go, Lieutenant, as you progress to the next rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army. Kenyans turned up in large numbers, and so did his fellow officers,” Wajackoyah added.

Social media users flocked to the comment section to wish Obunga well as he begins the next chapter of his life, penning congratulatory messages.

University graduate honours late mum

In another story, Thembisani Mntungwa honoured his late mother during his graduation ceremony with tears streaming down his face.

He held up a T-shirt paying tribute to the woman he described as his “biggest cheerleader” and the reason he managed to reach the milestone despite her passing less than two months earlier.

Reflecting on the death of his mother, Nondumiso Mntungwa, in March, he spoke about the deep void she left behind.

Mntungwa said his mother made immense sacrifices to ensure that he and his three younger siblings were well cared for.
