Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed reports suggesting he has defected from the All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Congress, describing such claims as false and misleading.

He clarified the issue on Wednesday after inspecting the newly reconstructed Rivers State Psychiatric Hospital, which has been upgraded and converted into a general hospital in Rumuigbo, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Fubara stated that there is no truth to viral social media reports alleging a change in his political allegiance, insisting that he remains committed and aligned with the interests of the APC. He urged the public to disregard the rumours and avoid misinterpreting his political stance.

Speaking on the hospital project, the governor explained that the upgrade was necessitated by the poor access to healthcare services in the area, following an earlier assessment of the facility.

He noted that residents previously had to travel long distances for medical attention, with the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital serving as the nearest major referral centre.

Fubara described the completion of the project as the fulfilment of his administration’s promise, adding that it demonstrates his commitment to improving healthcare delivery and the overall well-being of residents in Rivers State.
