The Nasarawa State chapter of the Youth Council of Nigeria has congratulated Abubakar Nalaraba following his emergence as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Nasarawa South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nalaraba, who currently represents Awe/Doma/Keana Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was declared the winner of the APC senatorial primary conducted on May 18 by the Chairman of the Senatorial Primary Election Committee, Musa Guri.

According to the results obtained by our correspondent, the lawmaker polled 48,452 votes to defeat his closest rival, Emmanuel Akabe, who secured 32,881 votes in the keenly contested exercise.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the state chairman of the YCN, Musa Damka, the youth body described Nalaraba’s victory as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by APC members and the people of Nasarawa South.

The group said the lawmaker had built a reputation for effective representation, legislative competence and commitment to the development of both his constituency and Nasarawa State.

According to the statement, Nalaraba’s stewardship at the National Assembly, particularly as Chairman of the House Committee on Loans, Aids and Debt Management, has demonstrated his understanding of governance, public finance and economic management.

“Hon. Hassan Nalaraba has consistently shown leadership, dedication and loyalty to the ideals of the APC. His emergence as the party’s senatorial candidate is not only well deserved but also a victory for the people of Nasarawa South who desire experienced, visionary and people-oriented representation,” the statement read.

The council expressed optimism that the APC candidate would bring stronger legislative advocacy and broader representation to the Senate if elected in 2027.

The endorsement is seen as an early boost for Nalaraba’s senatorial ambition as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the next general election in Nasarawa State.

Nasarawa South Senatorial District remains one of the most politically influential zones in the state, covering key local government areas including Awe, Doma, Keana, Obi and Lafia. The district has historically played a significant role in determining the balance of political power within the state.

Political observers say the APC will be looking to consolidate its dominance in the district amid growing competition from opposition parties ahead of the polls.

The YCN also called on APC members, supporters and stakeholders across the senatorial district to close ranks and work towards securing victory for the party in the January 16, 2027 election.

“We are confident that Hon. Nalaraba possesses the experience, political maturity and leadership qualities required to effectively represent the interests of Nasarawa South at the Red Chamber.

“His track record speaks volumes, and we believe he will do even more as a senator,” Damka added.

The youth group further prayed for wisdom, strength and success for the APC candidate as preparations begin for the main election campaign.
