The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested two women and one man following a raid on a housing estate in Kano over alleged involvement in immoral activities.
The operation was conducted at the Sheikh Muhammad Nasiru Kabara housing estate, commonly referred to as Bandirawo estate, situated along Daura Road in Kano, and was led by the Commander of CSH, Hafizu Garba Adakawa.
Among those arrested was a 30-year-old woman, Khadija Ahmad, from Rimi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
During questioning, Khadija reportedly admitted to residing in the apartment with her children while occasionally renting out rooms to individuals for immoral purposes in exchange for money.
She also claimed that the property had originally been handed over to her by another woman who subsequently travelled to Egypt, and suggested that similar activities were taking place elsewhere in the neighbourhood.
Also arrested during the same operation were Ali Abubakar, a 35-year-old fish seller from the Kano Cooperative area, and Fatima Abubakar, a 28-year-old woman from Niger State.
The two were reportedly discovered together inside a room and allegedly on the verge of engaging in immoral conduct at the time of their arrest. Both individuals reportedly pleaded for leniency, claiming it was their first time being involved in such an act.
All three suspects were subsequently arraigned before a judge, Malam Sani Tanimu Hausawa, within the Hisbah premises for further legal proceedings.
The Kano State Hisbah Board reaffirmed its resolve to continue clamping down on immoral behaviour across the state, warning that similar operations would be carried out in various parts of Kano going forward.
