Celebrity entertainer and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has debunked claims that he owes money to supporters who backed his bid for the Imo House of Representatives seat.

In a series of posts shared on his Instagram story, Okechukwu also said his decision to join politics was driven purely by personal conviction.

“I am not indebted to anybody over my aspiration. The aspiration was entirely mine, driven by my personal conviction and desire to serve,” he stated.

The entertainer said he has no regrets about raising the political stakes and consciousness in his constituency, adding that he remains a loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okechukwu explained that he stayed away from the primary venue after discussions with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on the issue of zoning.

“The governor made the argument that it was not the turn of my Local Government Area to occupy the seat at this time.

“Out of respect for the party and its leadership, I chose not to proceed to the field — and indeed, I never did. Nobody will say they saw me anywhere around the primaries venue. In fact, I did not participate. I headed straight back to Lagos.”

Okechukwu lost the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency ticket to Chukwugozie Moore at the APC primaries held in Imo State on Saturday.
