According to a report by DAILY POST on Thursday 14th May 2026, Umar Ardo, promoter of the All Democratic Alliance, ADA, has disclosed that he cautioned former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and ex-Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, against joining the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, due to unresolved issues surrounding the party.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, Ardo stated that his criticism of the NDC started long before reports emerged linking Obi and Kwankwaso with the party.

According to him, he publicly opposed the registration of the NDC by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, shortly after the announcement was made on February 6.

Ardo explained that after discovering what he described as irregularities involving the party, he reached out to allies close to Obi, urging them to advise the former Anambra State governor against joining the platform.

He added that he also personally met with Kwankwaso and later contacted him again shortly before his reported involvement with the NDC, warning him about the challenges facing the party.

Despite the warnings, Ardo said both politicians went ahead with their association with the NDC, insisting that their entry into the party did not resolve the issues he earlier raised.

“A day after INEC announced the registration of NDC, I publicly opposed it; My position was never about Peter Obi or Kwankwaso,” he said.

“When I got the information about the problems surrounding the party, I informed people close to Obi that if they wanted another political platform, there were better alternatives than NDC.

“I equally sat down with Kwankwaso and explained the situation to him; I even called him shortly before they moved in, but they still proceeded.

“The fact that they joined the party does not change anything; The situation remains bad,” Ardo stated.

He further stressed that his opposition to the NDC was based on concerns about credibility and legality, adding that Nigerians deserve transparency in the political process….See More
