The sudden death of Dr Job Obwaka, who was not just a gynaecologist but also a director at the renowned Nairobi Hospital, took the country by great shock only days after he had been involved in a dramatic arrest over longstanding management issues that have been bedevilling the hospital.
Obwoka ended up in court with other co-accused, and they had just been released as the case progressed when he suddenly collapsed in Kitengela and was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital, where he died.

Ther was a light moment at the requiem service of the late Obwoka after his wife took to the stage to eulogise her husband of 48 years and with whom they shared seven children.
Why did women have eyes for Obwaka?
During the speech that took the mourners who had congregated at CITAM Valley Road from the time the couple met, had seven kids to the day he died, the grieving widow made many smile when he shared the qualities that attracted her and also made other women admire him.
“The smartest guy, with money in the pocket and a good car, who does not have eyes for that?” asked Everose.
Many times I want to own him, and I say this is mine, but only when he is in the house, when he leaves, I don’t care or check on him; he is a doctor and professional, and he needs to do what needs to be done. There is no single day that he slept outside; he loved me,”she added.
The widow also explained how she dealt with admiration from other women, especially when he was out of the house, being a doctor and a professional.

“When he comes home, he is my darling, the father of my children and the love of my life,’ she said.
Obwoka’s grandson weeps during requiem mass
In a different story, a grandson of Dr Obwaka, Keilan, caused many to shed tears when he wondered what was going to become of him now that his grandfather was dead.
Keilan considered the late Obwaka a father figure because he took him and his mother in and raised the boy as his own without any problem.
He also recalled the great times they had together as he grew up, and many people were touched.
