Residents of Belgut Constituency in Kericho County are celebrating an act of kindness that has restored hope and dignity to a man whose life was changed forever by a tragic road accident.

For three years, Lawrence struggled to rebuild his life after losing his left leg in a crash that left him unable to move around comfortably or carry out his daily activities with ease.

Daktari Kelvin Kipchirchir Ufa told GossipsNG that the accident not only affected the man’s mobility but also placed a heavy emotional and financial burden on him and his family.

Neighbours and well-wishers say his situation touched many people in the community, prompting appeals for help to Belgut Member of Parliament Nelson Koech.

According to residents, the MP responded by helping to build Lawrence a new house last month, giving him a safer and more comfortable place to live.

During the launch of the housing project, Koech also pledged to clear the hospital bill for Lawrence’s artificial leg replacement.

That promise became a reality today when Lawrence successfully received and fitted the artificial leg at AIC Litein Hospital, marking an emotional turning point in his recovery journey.

Witnesses at the hospital described scenes of joy as Lawrence took steps with his new prosthetic limb, smiling as he walked again after years of hardship.

“Thanks. Nimeshukuru sana kwa kuninunulia mguu,” Lawrence said emotionally after the fitting.

Doctors at the hospital confirmed that the procedure had gone well and that Lawrence would now be able to move around more freely.

“We have done the fixing of the leg well. Lawrence can now walk without any difficulty,” one of the doctors involved in the process said.

Residents who witnessed the occasion praised the well-wisher for standing with a vulnerable member of the community during one of the most difficult periods of his life.

Speaking during the occasion, Koech encouraged residents to continue supporting one another and promoting compassion within society.

For Lawrence, the artificial leg represents more than restored mobility. To many in Belgut, it is a symbol of hope, community support and a second chance at living life with dignity once again.
