A strange football rivalry incident has emerged in Uganda after two football fans were arrested for allegedly stealing a goat purchased by Arsenal supporters for their Premier League title celebration.
The suspects, said to be supporters of Manchester United and Manchester City, were reportedly arrested in Masaka after taking away the goat that Arsenal fans had bought ahead of their club’s trophy celebration.
According to reports by Ugandan newspaper New Vision, police said the suspects admitted to stealing the animal to prevent Arsenal supporters from carrying out their planned celebration after the club won the English Premier League title for the first time in 22 years.
Arsenal secured the 2026 Premier League crown after Manchester City played a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth on Tuesday, a result that officially handed the title to the North London club. The achievement triggered celebrations among Arsenal fans across different parts of the world.
In preparation for the festivities in Masaka, local Arsenal supporters had reportedly purchased a goat on Sunday for the celebration ceremony. However, the animal allegedly disappeared before the event could take place.
The unusual incident quickly attracted attention on social media, with many football fans reacting to the bizarre rivalry-driven act.
Police authorities have since launched an investigation into the matter.
