Like many immigrants arriving in a foreign country, the transition was far from easy.

Before entering the medical field, Imran and Yasin took on survival jobs in warehouses and grocery stores to make ends meet while trying to establish stable lives abroad.

Dawood brothers’ turning point

Despite the hardships, they remained focused on building a brighter future.

Their turning point came while working at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where they were inspired by the dedication and impact of healthcare workers around them.

Motivated by what they witnessed in the hospital environment, the brothers decided to pursue careers in respiratory therapy.

In 2009, they enrolled together at Harrisburg Area Community College to study respiratory therapy.

Balancing demanding coursework with full-time jobs was not easy, but the pair persevered through long shifts, sleepless nights, and financial pressure in pursuit of their dream.

Their work became especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic, when respiratory therapists were among the frontline healthcare workers helping critically ill patients in overwhelmed hospitals.

Colleagues have praised the pair for their professionalism, compassion, and teamwork, qualities that have helped them thrive in high-pressure medical environments.

Dawood brothers’ live near each other

Beyond their careers, the brothers have maintained a remarkably close bond. They continue to live near one another in Pennsylvania and are raising their families side by side, just as they have supported each other throughout their journey.

Despite the years spent abroad and the demanding nature of their work, Imran and Yasin say little has changed between them.

They describe themselves not only as brothers, but also as best friends whose support for one another remains at the centre of both their personal and professional lives.

Social media users have praised their resilience, brotherhood, and determination to rise above difficult circumstances to build meaningful lives abroad.
