Rosemary Mtiro is recuperating well after donating her kidney to her beloved daughter at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH).
Just three days after the procedure, the selfless mother was able to walk and was preparing to leave the hospital to continue recovering at home.

“I am feeling very well. I do not have any pain at all. If I choose to go home today, I can, with the doctor’s permission. The journey has not been too challenging. I came here in October last year for some laboratory tests ahead of the operation for the sake of my child.

On Saturday, May 9, my daughter successfully received my kidney. The services are top-notch, the doctors are professional, and the surgery went well,” she said with a smile.
Rosemary noted that the laparoscopic surgery did not leave a large scar on her body, unlike traditional surgery.
“I was told this was keyhole surgery, so the scar is barely visible. There are only three small openings, with one used to remove the kidney. If you looked at me, you would not believe it has only been three days since I donated a kidney,” she said.
