The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has distanced itself from purported endorsement lists circulating in several states, especially in the South East, describing them as unauthorized and not representative of the party’s official position.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the NDC said the lists failed to include the names of several aspirants who legitimately purchased the party’s Expression of Interest Forms.
“The national leadership of the NDC is not aware of any such endorsement lists, nor has any list been authorised or approved by the party leadership,” the statement read.
The party warned its State Executive Committees, stakeholders, members, and the general public against recognizing or relying on the circulating lists, insisting they are not official documents of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
According to the statement, the NDC remains committed to allowing all duly screened aspirants who purchased the party’s Expression of Interest Forms to participate in the upcoming primaries, either through consensus arrangements or direct primary elections.
The party further stressed that its internal electoral process would continue to be guided by transparency, fairness, due process, and democratic principles as enshrined in its constitution.
The statement comes amid growing political activities and alignments ahead of the party primaries across various states.
