Professor Usman Yusuf Blasts Peter Obi: “He Has Never Worked for His Ticket, He’s the Spoiled Child of Nigerian Politics”

In a strong statement that has sparked fresh debate, Professor Usman Yusuf, a respected medical expert and public commentator, has described Labour Party leader Peter Obi as someone who has not struggled for his political position.………

Speaking recently, Prof. Yusuf said: “Peter Obi has never worked for his ticket. He is the spoiled child of Nigerian politics.” According to him, unlike many politicians who fought hard through the ranks, Obi entered the big stage easily, especially during the 2023 elections when many young Nigerians supported him with huge energy and hope.

Prof. Yusuf, known for speaking his mind on national issues, believes Obi enjoyed privileges and did not face the real battles others went through in politics. He said this has made Obi act like a “spoiled child” who gets things without much sweat.

The comment has divided Nigerians online. Many supporters of Obi quickly rejected it. One Twitter user, @ObidientNaija, wrote: “Prof, with all due respect, Peter Obi built a successful business before politics. He worked hard! This is just hate.” Another person, @RealTalkNG, said: “Finally someone is saying the truth. Obi became popular overnight in 2022. Where was the struggle?”

But Obi’s fans fought back strongly. @PeterObiIsComing posted: “This is nonsense. Obi left APGA and built LP from almost nothing. Millions of us worked for his ticket on the streets, not him begging godfathers.” Some even called the professor “jealous” and “paid to talk.”

The statement has trended on social media with hashtags like #PeterObiSpoiledChild and #ObiHasWorked. Political watchers say this kind of talk shows the ongoing tension between different political groups ahead of future elections.
