Jael, a 14-year-old Ghanaian girl has made a bold life decision to sacrifice herself to save her family from abstract poverty..
In a 1 one minutes, thirteen-second video, Jael announced her plans to sell herself to anyone willing to buy her for any kind of job.
According to Jael, she’s going to accept one hundred billion old cedis and hand the money to her mother to change the family’s misfortune.
Jael said that this hard decision comes after always waking up every morning to her mother in tears because there’s nothing to eat. She also mentioned how their father has abandoned and refused to take responsibility for them.
Despite her young age, Jael said she’s up to any task and can do anything to please the person willing to purchase her.
While recording the sad video, her 11-year-old sister was sitting close to her with tears all over her face, just as Jael was.
” I know some of you may not agree with me but I know what’s going on in my life, My name is Jael, 14 years of age, Please I want to sell myself one hundred billion because we wake up every morning to see our mother in tears.”
“That bothers us. Anyone interested in me should let me know, I will do whatever the buyer pleases. We’re facing difficulties in life. We cannot even go to school. Our father is there m, but he doesn’t pick up our calls. I can give the money to my mother while I go to serve the person who buys me.” She said in a one minutes thirteen seconds video.
Videos of such nature cannot find their way on social media without commenters sharing their point of view. Stories like this are becoming rampant on the Ghanaian internet which has made a section of commenters doubt the credibility of Jael’s story.
However, many others have already tagged various governmental agencies like the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection, DOVVDU, CHRAJ and NGOs to go to their aid and provide the needed support the family may need and also take action against the father of those children.
