Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham is making a new resolution: prioritising her family first.
While sharing new photos of herself to mark the new week, Abraham said this time there are no distractions for her, as it is God, herself, her family, her fans, and her goals.
“This time, no distractions, just God, me, my family, Toyintitans, and my goals”.
A day ago, she shared a word of wisdom with the public, admonishing them not to waste their energy trying to explain their value to people who only understand negativity.
At the 70th birthday celebration of Debola Lagos’ father, in a viral video, Toyin was seen paying her respects to Shade and her husband by kneeling to greet them.
Addressing the criticisms, Toyin described herself as a true Omoluabi who will always uphold and value her culture.
An X user slammed the actress for her greeting, calling it unnecessary and eye service.
Responding to her, Toyin expressed disappointment that Nigerians are starting to drift from their culture and traditions, to the point where kneeling is now considered as Abosi. She said she was raised to kneel when greeting those older than her, as it is a value deeply rooted in who she is, and she will continue to uphold with pride. She added that she will remain international about passing it to the younger generation.
The box-office queen had responded to the criticisms she received over her encounter with Olori Sekinat Elegushi, during which she went to her knees to speak to the Olori, who was comfortably seated in a chair at the event. Abraham made it known that she is a rare breed and people aren’t supposed to understand her.
Abraham had addressed the claims by her former protege, Abike Shugga, addressing their fallout. She said she never paid the sums being speculated, insisting the figures were inaccurate.
Abike Shugga, in an eight-minute video, spoke about her working relationship with Toyin and their fallout due to her movie, Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper. She revealed her payment structure with the actress and alleged that she was left out of the final version of the movie, despite her participation and heavy promotion.
