The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced the implementation of a 30-day visa exemption for citizens of Rwanda.

The directive follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement at the Africa CEO Forum held in Kigali, Rwanda.

According to a statement issued by the immigration service, the policy is part of a reciprocal agreement after the Rwandan government granted similar visa-free access to Nigerian citizens.

Under the arrangement, Rwandan nationals can now enter Nigeria without a visa for up to 30 days for lawful activities such as tourism, business, and official engagements.

The service, however, clarified that anyone intending to stay beyond the approved 30-day period must obtain the appropriate visa either through a Nigerian Embassy or High Commission abroad or via the Nigeria e-Visa platform.

It further disclosed that all international entry points across the country, including airports, land borders, and seaports, have been directed to begin immediate enforcement of the policy in line with the presidential directive.

The immigration service noted that the initiative reflects the strong diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and Rwanda while promoting intra-African movement, tourism, and economic cooperation in line with continental integration goals.

It added that the agency remains committed to ensuring safe, orderly, and lawful migration in accordance with international best practices and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
