Local vigilante operatives have foiled an attempted robbery and vandalism attack on the newly installed 132KVA power substation located at Temidire/Ajeja along the Ikirun Road in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Investigations by GOSSIPSNG Metro revealed that the suspected hoodlums were armed with dangerous weapons and had arrived at the facility with electrical tools believed to have been intended for dismantling and carting away components of the power installation.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspects had already commenced operations at the substation before members of the local vigilante group, acting on a tip-off, stormed the area.

The suspects reportedly fled the scene after an encounter with the vigilantes, narrowly escaping arrest. However, they abandoned some of the tools allegedly brought for the operation.

A member of the vigilante group, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the operatives engaged the suspects before they escaped.

“We engaged them, and the suspects narrowly escaped, but they left some of their tools behind. We will still get them,” he said.

Meanwhile, some chiefs from the palace of the Soun of Ogbomosoland later visited the substation to obtain first-hand information about the incident.
