According to locals, the body was collected from the mortuary at Jumuia Hospital in Kaimosi before being buried quietly on the night of Tuesday, May 12.

The uncertainty surrounding the man’s death fuelled tension within the village, with residents demanding answers from those involved in the burial arrangements.

They also wondered why the night burial occurred and without wider public knowledge, especially given the uncertainty surrounding the death.

The situation quickly escalated when residents gathered at the homestead and demanded that the grave be reopened so that a post-mortem examination could be conducted to establish the true cause of death.

Witnesses described chaotic scenes as crowds confronted three men believed to have organised the hurried burial.

Police officers were called to the area as tensions rose, with dust and commotion filling the village during the dramatic exhumation process.

The three men linked to the burial arrangements were subsequently arrested as investigations began into the circumstances surrounding both the death and the late-night burial.

Residents also questioned why no formal police report was filed when the man’s body was first discovered, despite claims circulating within the village that he may have suffered physical injuries before his death.

For many villagers, the incident has left behind fear, unanswered questions and deep divisions within the community, as they await the outcome of investigations into the disturbing death.
