The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials ahead of Saturday’s local government elections, declaring its readiness to conduct a credible and transparent exercise across the state.

Speaking with journalists in Yola on Friday during the distribution of election materials at the commission’s central store, the Commissioner for Logistics and Field Operations, Emmanuel Anuhu Abba, said all necessary arrangements had been concluded to ensure a smooth electoral process.

Abba disclosed that both sensitive and non-sensitive materials were being dispatched to local government areas across the state, adding that trucks loaded with election materials had already begun moving to their respective destinations.

According to him, about 10 local government areas had taken delivery of election materials ahead of the polls.
He assured residents of the commission’s preparedness and urged eligible voters to participate peacefully in the election.

The commissioner also dismissed rumours suggesting that some political parties had been excluded from the election, insisting that all 11 political parties cleared by the commission were duly represented on the ballot paper.

He said parties participating in the election include the Social Democratic Party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Young Progressives Party (YPP), African Action Congress (AAC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Action People’s Party (APP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and the Labour Party, among others.

Abba urged supporters of all participating parties to disregard misinformation and conduct themselves peacefully during the election.

He called on eligible voters across Adamawa State to come out en masse and exercise their franchise, assuring them that ADSIEC remained committed to conducting a free, fair and transparent local government election.

“The commission has put all necessary measures in place to ensure a successful exercise, and we encourage voters to turn out peacefully and participate in the democratic process,” he said.
