LAFIA — Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Nasarawa State, Senator Ahmed Wadada, has appealed to aggrieved members of the party to remain in the APC and join hands with him to build a prosperous state ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Wadada made the appeal on Monday during a press conference held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Lafia, where he called for reconciliation and unity following the party’s governorship primary election.
The APC candidate described his co-contestants in the primary as distinguished leaders, accomplished professionals and committed party members whose participation enriched the democratic process and strengthened the party.
He particularly commended aspirants who accepted the outcome of the primary and pledged support for the party, while extending an olive branch to those dissatisfied with the process.
“To my respected brothers and sisters who contested alongside me during the primary election — Hassan Liman, SAN, and Dr. Fatima Abdullahi — and graciously accepted the outcome, as well as those who initially expressed interest in contesting but later withdrew in the interest of our great party and the progress of Nasarawa State, I extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude for their commitment, sacrifice and unwavering dedication to our shared vision,” he said.
Wadada stressed that the primary contest was over and that the party must now focus on reconciliation and collective responsibility.
“There is no victor and no vanquished. We are members of one political family united by a common vision and a shared commitment to the peace, unity and development of Nasarawa State.
“I therefore appeal to all party members, stakeholders and supporters to close ranks, put aside differences and work together as one united APC family,” he said.
The APC governorship flag-bearer also urged party members contemplating leaving the APC to reconsider, describing the party as a large and accommodating platform capable of accommodating diverse aspirations and opinions.
“Let us not create divisions where unity is needed. Let us not weaken what we have collectively built over the years,” he added.
Wadada expressed appreciation to Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, for what he described as his confidence, support and commitment to the continued progress of the state.
He also commended the state APC chairman, Aliyu Bello, members of the State Working Committee and electoral officials for ensuring a peaceful and credible primary election.
“The peaceful conduct and successful outcome of the primaries stand as clear evidence that the APC remains a united, disciplined and progressive political family dedicated to the advancement of democracy and the development of our dear state,” he said.
Meanwhile, Wadada unveiled his development blueprint, tagged the HEARTS Agenda, which he said would serve as the foundation of his administration if elected governor.
According to him, HEARTS stands for Human Capital Development, Economic Enhancement, Agriculture, Rural Transformation, Technological and Investment Advancement, and Security.
“Our vision for Nasarawa State shall be driven by the HEARTS Agenda, which represents our commitment to people-centred governance and sustainable development.
“The HEARTS Agenda is a comprehensive development blueprint designed to consolidate existing achievements while opening new opportunities for growth, innovation, youth empowerment, rural development, economic prosperity and improved security,” he said.
