Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the ruling party is committed to expanding opportunities for women in governance and political leadership.
Yilwatda made the comment on Monday while receiving a delegation of APC women leaders at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation was led by Mrs. Mary Alile Idele, APC national women leader, alongside the party’s six zonal women leaders and state women leaders from across the federation.
The APC chairman said the meeting focused on the role of women in strengthening the party and contributing to national development.
His words: “The APC remains determined to secure more elective and appointive positions for women in the forthcoming political dispensation.
“Our women have consistently demonstrated capacity, competence, resilience and loyalty to the party, and it is only fitting that they occupy more seats at decision-making tables across the country.”
Yilwatda described women as critical stakeholders in the party’s growth and electoral success, stating that: “Women are the enduring pillars of our party.
“In moments of triumph and in periods of challenge, they have remained steadfast, mobilising support, strengthening our structures and contributing immensely to every electoral victory recorded by the APC.”
He said women bring value, strength and inspiration to the party and should be given greater opportunities to serve.
“It is therefore our collective responsibility to ensure that more women emerge as legislators, political leaders and key government appointees at all levels.
“I will continue to champion the cause of women within our party and government structures, ensuring that their voices are heard and their contributions adequately recognised. The future of our daughters and generations yet unborn depends on the opportunities we create today,” he stated.
