Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamaw State, has called on newly deployed National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state to respect the culture and traditions of their host communities, while making meaningful contributions to national development.

The governor made the appeal during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I corps members held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.

A total of 1,367 corps members were observed to have been formally inducted into the scheme.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, Governor Fintiri urged the corps members to build harmonious relationships with their host communities and apply their knowledge and skills toward improving lives and promoting national unity.

He described the orientation course as the beginning of a transformative journey marked by service, leadership, self-discovery, and nation-building.

According to the governor, the administration of the oath of allegiance symbolizes the corps members’ commitment to Nigeria’s unity, progress, and development.

Governor Fintiri also encouraged participants to take full advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, describing it as one of the most impactful components of the NYSC scheme.

He urged them to actively participate in vocational training opportunities in agriculture, information and communication technology, fashion and beauty, construction, catering and food processing, creative arts, environmental management, and other enterprise-based sectors.

The Adamawa State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Asoroh Chinedu, commended Governor Fintiri for his continued support for the scheme and lauded the ongoing construction of the new NYSC Orientation Camp in Malkohi.

She said the project reflects the administration’s commitment to youth development and the provision of quality infrastructure for corps members in the state.
