Human rights advocate Harrison Gwamnishu has expressed deep frustration over his relationship with the police in Delta State, stating that his willingness to forgive and move on should not be mistaken for weakness.
In a strongly worded statement, Gwamnishu said experiences over time had taught him that kindness is not always appreciated, adding that betrayal can fundamentally change how people relate with others.
He stated that going forward, if he “emerges victorious” from what he described as a frivolous petition against him, he would return with renewed strength and ensure that actions are met with appropriate consequences.
Gwamnishu further alleged that the police in Delta State have repeatedly shown hostility towards him, despite what he described as his consistent support and assistance to their operations in maintaining peace and stability in the state.
He said he had contributed time, effort, and resources toward collaboration with security agencies but insisted that mutual respect and fairness must form the basis of any working relationship.
In his remarks, he declared that if his current legal or administrative challenges are resolved in his favour, he would withdraw from any further collaboration with what he described as hostile partners.
“The Police in Delta State have shown me repeatedly that they are not friends,” he said, while reaffirming that his commitment has always been driven by what he called the greater good.
He concluded by stating that fairness, sincerity, and mutual respect remain essential for any meaningful partnership moving forward.
