Veteran immigration attorney, Dr. Ope Banwo, Esq., has broadened the scope of discussions on his ongoing Immigrant Survival Marathon Show (ISMS), turning attention to the growing challenges confronting immigrant families and marriages in the United States.

The ISMS is a 30-day free live immigration consultation and education programme launched following the opening of Banwo Law, a new office in Arlington, Texas. The initiative has continued to attract immigrants seeking guidance on a wide range of issues affecting their lives in America.

On the ninth day of the marathon, ISMS, Banwo moved beyond traditional immigration topics to examine the impact of relocation on family stability, particularly the strain that migration can place on marriages.

During the session, the immigration expert explored the widely held belief that moving to the United States contributes to marital breakdown among immigrant couples. He also challenged participants to consider whether some relationships that eventually collapse abroad may have already been facing unresolved problems before relocation.

The discussion examined several pressures commonly experienced by immigrant families, including financial challenges, changing family roles, social isolation, immigration-related uncertainty, emotional disconnection and the demands of adjusting to a new environment.

Banwo also highlighted what he described as “silent divorce”—a situation in which couples remain legally married but gradually lose emotional intimacy and meaningful connection with one another.

As part of the interactive session, he shared practical strategies aimed at helping immigrant couples strengthen their relationships, improve communication and navigate the unique pressures associated with building a new life in America.

Known by many as “The Immigration Rottweiler,” Banwo stressed that family challenges can sometimes evolve into immigration challenges, making it important for immigrants to address both issues proactively.

Speaking  exclusively with The Octopus News ahead of the programme, Banwo said the session was designed for immigrant families seeking stability and long-term success in their new environment.

“This episode is for every immigrant husband, wife, fiancé, parent, Green Card holder, visa holder and immigrant family trying to build not just a life in America, but a successful family life in America,” he said.

The ISMS continues daily as part of Banwo’s commitment to providing free immigration education, guidance and support to immigrants across the United States and beyond.
