In her post, Okenyuri described the emotional experience of walking through the familiar grounds of her alma mater, seventeen years after she last studied there.
“Seventeen years later, I found myself once again walking along the pavements of my alma mater, The Kenya High School,” she wrote.
“As I stepped through the familiar grounds, I asked myself what I missed most. Was it the fresh morning air, the delicious meals, the school hymn or perhaps the friendship and sense of belonging in Naivasha House? Well the truth is that I missed all of it.”

The senator said her return was not only ceremonial but deeply personal, as she joined the institution in recognising students who have excelled in both academic and co-curricular activities.

She praised the school for maintaining a strong culture of discipline and excellence, noting that the values she experienced during her time there remain unchanged.
“It was inspiring to see that the values that defined our time here remain intact. The discipline is still admirable, the confidence of the girls remains unwavering, and the culture of excellence continues to thrive,” she said.
Okenyuri reflected on how the school shaped her life, describing it as a foundational environment that helped nurture her ambitions and character.
Addressing current students and recent graduates transitioning to university, she encouraged them to uphold the values instilled in them by the institution, expressing confidence in their future contributions.
“The world awaits your talents, and I have no doubt that many of you will go on to become leaders, innovators, professionals and changemakers who will make Kenya and the world a better place,” she added.

In other news, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka left Kenyans amused after returning to his former school, St. Mary’s Kibabii High School, dressed in the institution’s full uniform during an alumni homecoming event.
The governor, who completed his studies there about 46 years ago, wore shorts, a shirt and tie as he joined fellow old boys in celebrating their shared history.
Lusaka stole the show when he enthusiastically danced alongside students, matching their energy and impressing many online.
