Executive Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Stella Okotete, has said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori defeated former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, in the 2023 Delta State governorship election despite what she described as the full weight of federal power behind the APC candidate at the time.
Reacting to remarks made by Omo-Agege during his appearance on ARISE TV’s The Morning Show on Wednesday, Okotete maintained that the 2023 governorship election result remains clear evidence of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s widespread acceptance across Delta State. She also dismissed claims that the governor lacks political relevance within the APC.
According to her, “The APC gave Governor Sheriff the platform when they realised APC Delta at that time lacked leadership.”
She also recalled that Omo-Agege had signed a minority APC report alongside some of his aides months before Oborevwori officially joined the APC.
Referring to the 2023 governorship election, Okotete stated that Oborevwori won in 21 local government areas, while Omo-Agege secured victories in only a few councils.

“While the Governor won 21 LGAs in 2023, he won 3.5 LGAs,” she said.
She further alleged that some of the votes credited to Omo-Agege’s stronghold were questionable.
“My brother’s organic votes were created in Orogun… At midnight. Those of us in the field know what I mean by created,” Okotete stated.
She concluded by maintaining that the outcome of the election speaks for itself.
“The then Speaker of Delta State, by the grace of God, won the then Deputy Senate President with all the federal might in the 2023 governorship election. I will leave you all to solve the puzzle,” she added.
