Armed men suspected to be bandits have abducted six persons during a late-night raid on Unguwan Dutse in Wasagu Town, Wasagu District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Security sources said the incident occurred on June 5 at about 0040 hours when the assailants, reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community from the direction of a nearby forest believed to extend into Zamfara axis.

According to the report, the attackers whisked away six residents, including Lawali Kabir, 34; Ubaida Jabir, 3; Fatima Jabir, 27; Mardiyya Fahad, 28; and her two children.

Following a distress alert at about 0340 hours, a joint team comprising police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes was immediately mobilised to the scene.

However, the attackers had already fled with their victims before the arrival of the security operatives.

Security sources said coordinated search and rescue operations have since been intensified across surrounding forests and escape routes with a view to rescuing the victims unharmed and apprehending the perpetrators.

Authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing, while additional patrols have been deployed to strengthen security presence in the area.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
