The Executive Chairperson of Karim Lamido local government council of Taraba state, Virginia Baba Bambur, has announced the imposition of a 24-hour dusk-to-dawn curfew in Karim town, Didango, and other affected communities following a surge in violence and unrest across the area.

According to a statement issued by the Chairperson, the curfew took effect on Thursday, June 4, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice.

The council said the decision was necessitated by the worsening security situation, marked by continued attacks, loss of lives, and destruction of property in the affected communities.

Bambur directed all security agencies operating within the local government area, including the Nigerian Army, Police, Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, to enforce the directive and ensure strict compliance.

She assured residents that the government would conduct a thorough investigation into the causes of the crisis and bring those responsible to justice.

The Chairperson also appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies, stressing that efforts are underway to restore peace, security, and normalcy in the affected areas.

Authorities have urged members of the public to adhere strictly to the curfew regulations as security operations continue.
