  • Tributes have continued to pour in following the death of Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha, who reportedly passed away at the age of 47 after spending nearly four years in a coma.

Tributes have poured in following reports of the death of Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha, who reportedly passed away at the age of 47 after spending nearly four years in a coma.

According to reports, the princess had remained hospitalized since December 2022 after collapsing from a heart condition while training her dogs.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha was widely regarded as one of the most prominent members of the Thai royal family, earning respect for her work in diplomacy, law, and humanitarian advocacy.

She studied law at Thammasat University before obtaining a master’s degree in law from Cornell University. Following her education, she worked as a public prosecutor and later represented Thailand on the international stage.

Between 2012 and 2014, Princess Bajrakitiyabha served as Thailand’s ambassador to Austria. Her diplomatic work was followed by an appointment in 2017 as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, where she focused on issues relating to women’s rights and crime prevention.

Her passing comes months after severe floods devastated 12 southern provinces in Thailand in late 2025 following heavy seasonal rainfall. The disaster triggered flash floods and mudslides that swept through several communities, with Hat Yai district among the worst affected areas.

Reports indicated that at least 33 people lost their lives as a result of the floods, while hundreds of thousands of children were affected by the disaster.

The death of Princess Bajrakitiyabha has prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes, with many remembering her dedication to public service, justice, and humanitarian causes throughout her life and career.
