Authorities in Kogi state have arrested two students of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Ayingba, in connection with the death of David Ocholi Solomon, a 300-level Biochemistry student.

The incident was confirmed during a condolence visit by Professor Salisu Usman, the vice-chancellor of the institution to the bereaved family in Lokoja on Saturday.

According to the university management, the suspects were swiftly apprehended by the school’s internal security team shortly after the incident and subsequently handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Professor Ogbo, who described the development as deeply tragic, said he received the news while attending an academic conference in Ibadan.

He noted that the entire university community had been thrown into mourning following the incident.

He assured that the institution was working closely with security operatives to ensure a thorough investigation and to uncover all those involved.

The vice-chancellor also reaffirmed the university’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism, violence, and criminal activities, adding that additional security reforms would be introduced to strengthen safety on campus.

He commended the support of the state government, traditional leaders, and security agencies in maintaining order within the university environment.

In his response, Solomon Idachaba, the father of the deceased appreciated the university’s swift action in arresting the suspects and called for justice to be served.
