Donald Trump has once again returned to late-night posting sprees on Truth Social, reigniting discussions around his sleeping habits and whether a lack of rest could be affecting his cognitive health.

The 79-year-old president recently spent another night posting into the early hours of the morning after what was reportedly a record-breaking month on the social media platform. The report noted that Trump made 861 posts and reposts on Truth Social in May alone: the highest monthly total of his activity on the platform so far.

Trump’s overnight posting spree

Trump resumed posting shortly after midnight Washington time during his latest online spree. Among the posts were attacks on former President Joe Biden, praise for upcoming UFC events at the White House, and fresh allegations about election interference in California.

In one post, Trump claimed Democrats were attempting to “STEAL” primary races in California through mail-in ballots, though he did not provide evidence for the allegations.

Articleing session reportedly stretched until around 1:30 am.

The Mirror US further reported that Trump was active on Truth Social between 9 pm and 6 am on 25 separate nights in April. Based on that pattern, the outlet suggested he may have had only five full nights of uninterrupted sleep during the month.

Experts warn sleep deprivation can affect cognition

Trump’s online habits have now sparked scrutiny from sleep and mental health experts, particularly given his age and the pressures associated with the presidency.

Dr. Ritz Birah, a psychologist and sleep expert quoted by The Mirror US, said adults in their late seventies generally require seven to nine hours of sleep for healthy cognitive functioning and emotional regulation.

“Insufficient sleep reliably affects attention, working memory, impulse control, and decision-making,” Birah explained. She added that chronic sleep restriction can make people “more reactive” and “more prone to errors in judgment.”

The expert also warned about the long-term effects of accumulating “sleep debt,” citing studies that have linked repeatedly sleeping four to six hours a night with progressive cognitive decline.

Despite the growing conversation around Trump’s sleep schedule, the president and his allies have consistently portrayed his limited rest as a sign of stamina and high energy rather than a concern.
