The note, written by a student identified as Sallystine Melly, was a simple request to her mother. In neat handwriting, she politely asked for help paying her bread voucher after running out of credit at school.

“Hey mom, how are you? I was kindly requesting if you could pay my bread voucher since I am out of bread voucher,” the note read.

What was once an ordinary message between a daughter and her mother has now become a treasured memory for a family shattered by loss.

“I brought my daughter whole; you return ashes to me. My heart is bleeding,” she wrote.

The devastated parent described her firstborn as God-fearing, bright, industrious, brave, patient, ambitious, and a natural leader who served as a role model to her younger sisters.

According to the mother, the family had great hopes for the young girl and looked forward to a future she would help build. Instead, they are now grappling with an unimaginable loss.

“You’ve made me see your dad break for the first time. My family will never be the same again,” she lamented.

She added that seeing her daughter’s friends only deepens the pain because they remind her of the vibrant young life that was cut short.

Concluding her tribute, the grieving mother expressed her undying love for her child.

“Hata kwa mauti nakupenda mwanangu, forever in my heart,” she wrote.

The emotional message has touched many Kenyans, with social media users continuing to mourn the students who lost their lives in the tragedy.
