Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, National Leader of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), has called for the resignation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his failure to tackle the escalating insecurity across Nigeria.
In an interview with Arise News, Dr. Baba-Ahmed said the President has lost control of the security situation, with kidnappings and violent crimes surging in every region. He argued that protecting citizens is a fundamental duty of any president, and Tinubu has “spectacularly failed” in this regard. He dismissed suggestions that the call is partisan, insisting it is a responsible demand in a civilized democracy.
In Dr. Baba-Ahmed’s words: “President Tinubu has no handle on the escalating violence. Everything that needed to have been said by the media, by civil society, by everybody else except of course the National Assembly, Tinubu himself and his tiny cycle of supporters appear to believe that this is a problem that we can live with… In a democratic setting, you elect a president to perform two basic tasks. One is to protect the citizens. The other one is to protect the means by which they earn a legitimate living.
