  • A Nigerian woman has accused the Nigerian Army of demanding ₦2 million before releasing her late soldier brother’s body for burial. The claim has triggered emotional reactions online, with many calling for clarification from military authorities.
  • While some Nigerians believe corrupt officials may be involved, others have questioned the allegation and urged the public to wait for an official response before drawing conclusions.

A Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after alleging that the Nigerian Army demanded ₦2 million from her family before the body of her late brother, a soldier, could be returned home for burial.

In an emotional video, the woman said her brother had served in the Nigerian Army since he was 20 years old and recently passed away while still in service. According to her, the family was shocked when they were allegedly informed that they would have to pay ₦2 million before his remains could be transported home.

Expressing her pain, she noted that their late father was also a soldier, making the situation even more heartbreaking for the family.

“Nigerians, I’m heartbroken right now. My brother, who has served in the Nigerian Army since he was 20 years old, has died. Now, the Army told us they cannot bring his body home for us unless we pay ₦2 million. They said if we don’t send the money, they won’t bring him back for burial. My father was also a soldier before he died, and this situation is very painful for our family. I never imagined the Nigerian Army would deteriorate to this point,” she said.

The allegation quickly generated widespread reactions online, with many expressing outrage and sympathy for the family, while others questioned the authenticity of the claim and urged the public to wait for an official response from military authorities.

Some commenters suggested that corrupt individuals within the system could be attempting to exploit the grieving family, while others argued that standard military procedures typically cover the transportation and burial arrangements of deceased personnel.
