She joyfully added that people’s opinions about her decision did not concern her, as she was only preparing her final home.

““People may think I am strange, but this is something I have wanted for many years,” she said. “I wanted to prepare my final home while I am still alive and still energetic enough to supervise the work.”

According to her, the project was delayed for years because she feared meeting dishonest builders.

“Many are dishonest; they overcharge elderly people and misuse construction materials. I waited until I found trustworthy people who could do exactly what I wanted,” she explained.

The centenarian further said she plans to organise a ceremony once the grave is complete, an event she describes as similar to a house-warming party.

She hopes the celebration will coincide with her birthday.

Features of Dorothy Nantale’s grave

Some community members criticised Dorothy for building a modern structure for her grave while she still lives in a modest home.

However, she dismissed the criticism, saying her grave is her permanent home and therefore deserves the best.

“This is my permanent home. Others build houses where they stay temporarily, but this one will be my home forever,” she said with a smile.

The grave is approximately 10 feet deep and features a uniquely designed inner chamber, similar to those commonly found in Muslim burial styles, although she is a Christian.

The 100-year-old woman has also appealed to well-wishers for support through gifts and contributions towards the planned celebration, adding that she has already purchased her coffin.

Murang’a man builds his own burial place

In other news, NgGossips reported that a man identified as Samuel Karanja left many shocked after deciding to prepare his final resting place.

Karanja built a fancy burial site, printed his own picture for the coffin, and issued a set of rules to be followed when he died.

In addition to his unusual actions, his wife said he is mostly shirtless despite extreme weather conditions.
