Today, Nigeria celebrates a man who has consistently blurred the lines between enterprise, politics, and philanthropy Hon. Shina Abiola Peller, who marks his 50th birthday.

Born on May 14, 1976, in Lagos to the revered Islamic scholar and magician, Professor Moshood Abiola Peller, Shina grew up in a home where discipline, faith, and service were non-negotiable. He traces his roots to Iseyin in Oyo State, a heritage he has never forgotten and continues to honor through development initiatives and cultural advocacy.

From the Boardroom to the Green Chambers

Shina Peller’s journey is one of calculated ambition and consistent execution. A Chemical Engineering graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, he later earned a Master’s degree in Business Management from the same institution. He began his career in the corporate world but soon ventured into entrepreneurship, founding the Aquila Group of Companies.

It was his audacious vision that gave Nigeria Club Quilox, a brand that redefined nightlife and entertainment in West Africa. Under his leadership, Aquila expanded into hospitality, real estate, and lifestyle, creating jobs for thousands of Nigerians and positioning Lagos as a destination for global leisure tourism.

In 2019, he took his vision for impact into public service, winning a seat in the House of Representatives to represent Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency. During his tenure, he was known for his vocal advocacy for youth empowerment, education reform, and small business growth. He chaired and served on key committees, consistently pushing for policies that would unlock opportunities for young Nigerians.

A Politician with a Human Face

What distinguishes Hon. Peller in Nigeria’s often cynical political landscape is his refusal to separate leadership from compassion. For over a decade, he has spent his birthday not in lavish parties, but with students of the Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children in Surulere, Lagos. There, he shares meals, listens to their stories, and offers scholarships, mentorship, and resources to help them dream beyond their circumstances.

“Education, skill development, and self-confidence are the greatest tools we can give our children,” he has said on several occasions. That philosophy has guided his philanthropic approach, which extends to healthcare outreaches, youth skill acquisition programs, and support for widows and the elderly in Oyo State.

His chieftaincy titles—Ayedero of Yorubaland and Akinrogun of Epe—are not ceremonial decorations. They reflect a man recognized across regions for his peacebuilding efforts, conflict resolution, and commitment to Yoruba culture and unity.

A Legacy in the Making

At 50, Shina Peller stands at a defining intersection of experience and relevance. He is a businessman who understands job creation, a politician who understands governance, and a philanthropist who understands people. In a time when Nigerians are hungry for leaders who match words with action, he represents a model of what public service can look like when it is rooted in empathy and execution.

As he steps into this new decade, the expectations are higher, but so is his capacity. Whether in the boardroom, on the campaign trail, or in the quiet corridors of a school for the visually impaired, Shina Peller continues to show that true leadership is measured not by what you take, but by what you give.

Happy 50th Birthday, Hon. Shina Abiola Peller.

May your influence grow, your vision expand, and your heart remain as generous as it has always been.
