The race for the presidency of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State is gaining momentum as Apostle Patrick A. Nwanze, JP, also known as Agu-Anioma, prepares to formally declare his candidacy for the position.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the move follows a public endorsement from the Palace of the Obi of Ibusa Kingdom in Delta State.

In an official statement and recommendation letter addressed to Senator Ned Munir Nwoko of Delta North Senatorial District, the palace announced its full support for Apostle Nwanze’s bid.

His Royal Majesty, Obi Prof. Louis Chelunor Nwaoboshi, Obuzo of Ibusa Kingdom, described Apostle Nwanze as the most credible, capable, and unifying candidate for the office. The monarch said the endorsement was made without reservation.

According to the palace statement, “Apst. Patrick A. Nwanze stands out as a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the socio-cultural dynamics of Ndigbo. His track record of service, discipline, and commitment to unity and community development makes him the ideal choice at this critical time.”

Apst. Nwanze is a Business Development and Safety Consultant with academic backgrounds in Computer Science and Theology. He is also an author with several published works and has built a reputation as a principled advocate for the Anioma cause.

He currently serves as President General of the Apex Association of Anioma Indigenes Inc., an affiliate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. He also holds leadership roles in other socio-cultural and community-based organizations.

Beyond his organizational roles, Apst. Nwanze is a missionary known for supporting less privileged communities across different countries. The palace noted that his humanitarian work reflects a commitment to service beyond borders.

The royal statement highlighted his contributions within and beyond Lagos State, saying his leadership has been widely acknowledged and respected across diverse constituencies.

The Obi called on stakeholders, delegates, and members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos to rally behind Apst. Nwanze, stressing the need for unity and purposeful leadership at this time.

“At this critical time, the emergence of a strong, credible, and unifying leader is paramount. Apst. Patrick A. Nwanze represents that leadership,” the statement said.

The palace also urged Anioma indigenes in Delta North and across Lagos to support his candidacy in the interest of progress and collective advancement.

Political consultations among Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos stakeholders are expected to intensify in the coming weeks ahead of the planned elections.

P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that Agu-Anioma has since accepted to run for the presidency. And based on the zoning arrangement, it appears Delta and the other states may be the ones to likely contest for the position thereby blocking the chances of another candidate, Prince Ubochi Ubochi, who is from Imo State.
