Nigeria’s luxury hospitality landscape continues to evolve as Taiwo Afolabi, billionaire industrialist and founder of SIFAX Group, stands behind one of the country’s most premium hotel offerings — the Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja.
Located in the highbrow Ikeja Government Reserved Area (GRA), the five-star facility has quickly established itself as a symbol of class, comfort, and corporate prestige since its completion in May 2021.
Owned through Mac Folly Hospitality Limited, a subsidiary of SIFAX Group, the hotel is managed by global hospitality giant Marriott International, ensuring adherence to international standards in service delivery and guest experience.
The business empire behind the project is further reinforced by Afolabi’s wife, Afolashade Abosede Afolabi, who serves as Chairman within the group, playing a strategic role in its operations and expansion.
Rising seven storeys high, the Lagos Marriott Hotel boasts 251 elegantly designed rooms and suites, alongside state-of-the-art conference facilities, fine dining restaurants, and premium leisure amenities tailored to both business and high-end leisure travelers.
Room rates reflect the exclusivity of the offering. Standard rooms reportedly start from about ₦583,635 per night, while the opulent Presidential Suite commands as much as ₦3.9 million per night, positioning the hotel among the most expensive in Nigeria’s hospitality market.
Industry observers note that the investment signals SIFAX Group’s deliberate diversification from its traditional strongholds in maritime, aviation, and logistics into the upscale hospitality and tourism sector — a move aligned with Lagos’ status as West Africa’s commercial hub.
As demand for luxury accommodation continues to rise among corporate executives, diplomats, and international visitors, the Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja stands as a bold statement of Nigerian-owned investment meeting global hospitality standards.
