Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season award after guiding the club back into the Champions League places within four months in charge.
Carrick was named among the six-man shortlist despite taking over at Old Trafford only in January following the departure of Ruben Amorim.
The former Manchester United midfielder inherited a side sitting sixth in the table before leading the club to third place with three matches remaining this season.
United have collected 33 points from a possible 45 under Carrick, recording 10 wins, three draws and only two defeats in 15 Premier League matches.
His reign began with a 2-0 victory over Manchester City and sparked a strong run that pushed the Red Devils to the top of the league’s form table.
Carrick joins Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, Brentford coach Keith Andrews and Sunderland’s Regis Le Bris on the shortlist.
The Premier League confirmed that supporters will vote alongside an expert panel before the final winner is announced.
Guardiola is seeking a sixth Manager of the Season award, while Arteta has been recognised after leading Arsenal close to their first league title since 2004.
Andrews was nominated after an impressive debut campaign with Brentford, while Iraola earned recognition for Bournemouth’s push for European qualification.
Le Bris was also shortlisted after guiding Sunderland to a top-half finish.
Carrick’s nomination comes amid growing speculation over his long-term future at Manchester United following the club’s strong finish to the campaign.
