Charles Emesim has publicly denied reports circulating online that he was sentenced to 105 months in prison in the United States of America.

Speaking through a statement, Emesim,  described the claim as false and malicious. He said the report was deliberately spread to tarnish his reputation, which he has built over many years.

According to him, the story has no basis in fact and appears to be the work of detractors who are unhappy with his position and influence within the community. He stressed that such misinformation caused unnecessary panic among his family, friends, and supporters both in Nigeria and abroad.

Emesim explained that he is currently in good health and residing in the United States, where he continues to carry out his legitimate business activities. He added that he was not arrested, detained or convicted by any U.S. court.

He urged members of the public to disregard the social media reports, noting that they are misleading and intended to create confusion. Chief Charles emphasized that if he were facing legal issues in the U.S., it would be a matter of public record through official court channels.

Community members  have expressed relief after hearing directly from him. Many said they were surprised by the rumour, as they had spoken with him recently and found nothing unusual.

Emesim called on social media users to verify information before sharing it, warning that spreading false claims can damage lives and reputations. He said he would not be distracted by the smear campaign and remains committed to serving his people.

He also thanked those who reached out to confirm his wellbeing when the rumour began to trend. He said their support showed the strength of unity within the Ndigbo community in Lagos.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to peace and development among Ndigbo in Lagos and beyond. Emesim stated that he would continue to focus on his responsibilities rather than respond to baseless allegations.

The statement has since been shared widely among Igbo groups in Lagos as a way to put the matter to rest and stop further speculation.
