A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted a final forfeiture order on assets valued at about N1.9 billion, along with N288 million in cash and a five-bedroom duplex linked to former Acting Accountant General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku, directing that the properties be permanently surrendered to the Federal Government.
The ruling was delivered on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, by Justice James Omotosho, following earlier proceedings in which the court had convicted and sentenced Nwabuoku on March 23, 2026 on nine counts bordering on money laundering and abuse of office.
Acting on the judgment, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), filed a motion on April 1, 2026, seeking a final order of forfeiture covering multiple assets listed in three schedules submitted to the court.
According to the court documents, Schedule 1 covered funds traced to several companies, including Temeeo Synergy Concept Limited, Turge Global Investment Limited, Laptev Bridge Limited, Arrafura Transnational Afro Ltd, as well as N220 million recovered into the EFCC Recovery Account at the Central Bank of Nigeria. The total cash component amounted to N288,590,749.
Schedule 2 detailed a five-bedroom duplex located at No. 20 City Gate Estate, Kukwaba, Abuja.
Schedule 3 contained shares acquired in various securities companies, valued at N1,941,805,342 as of March 29, 2026.
In his ruling, Justice Omotosho held that the assets were proceeds of unlawful activity, relying on the earlier conviction, and ordered their permanent forfeiture to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
