The Lagos State Police Command has advised applicants to disregard a fake notice currently circulating online regarding the date for the police medical screening exercise.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, gave the warning in a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos.

Adebisi said no official date had been announced for the medical screening exercise, describing the information being circulated as false and misleading.

She urged applicants and members of the public to be cautious of scammers and fraudsters seeking to exploit unsuspecting persons through fake recruitment information

“Beware of fraudsters. All official information concerning the exercise will be communicated through verified police channels in due course,” the image maker said.

The spokesperson advised applicants to rely only on official communication from the Nigeria Police Force and the Lagos State Police Command to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.

The clarification followed a notice circulating on social media claiming that the medical screening for the 2026 police recruitment exercise would commence nationwide on May 17.

The fake notice also contained a timetable showing the dates for screening across various states, directing applicants to check their screening date, time and venue.

It further instructed them to come along with documents including the National Identification Number (NIN) slip, O’Level results, birth certificate or age declaration, white shorts, white T-shirt, white canvas shoes and passport photographs.

The notice also claimed that the screening would be conducted at police commands or approved medical centres in each state.
