The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a domestic staff member over the alleged murder of a Pentecostal bishop and an attempted sale of the victim’s Toyota Prado Jeep in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, disclosed the development on May 13, 2026, noting that operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, carried out an intelligence-driven operation that led to the arrest of the suspect and another individual believed to be a potential buyer of the stolen vehicle.
According to preliminary findings, the suspect—who reportedly worked as the cleric’s driver and domestic staff—allegedly conspired with other yet-to-be-identified accomplices to kill the bishop, identified as a senior cleric of the End-Reconciliation Ministry in Asaba, Delta State. He was then said to have fled with the victim’s SUV to Anambra State, where it was put up for sale.
Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, tracked and intercepted the suspects in Nkpor, successfully recovered the stolen Prado Jeep, and took the suspects into custody for interrogation.
The command said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the criminal network involved, while efforts are being intensified to fully uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The police commissioner also urged members of the public to exercise caution when employing domestic staff, drivers, and other household workers. He advised proper background checks and continuous monitoring to prevent similar incidents, stressing the importance of vigilance in homes and workplaces.
He further assured residents that the command remains committed to intelligence-led policing and collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property across Anambra State.
The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, on behalf of the Anambra State Police Command.
