A cloud of grief has engulfed the family and friends of Sheila Jepkorir Chebii, a young Kenyan woman from Kimumu in Eldoret, who sadly passed away in Sydney, barely a month after relocating abroad in search of a better future.

Sheila is reported to have died on Sunday, May 17, leaving behind devastated loved ones both in Kenya and within the Kenyan community in Australia.

When did Sheila travel to Australia?

Her death has sparked an outpouring of sorrow online, with many expressing heartbreak over a life that appeared full of promise and ambition.

According to her sister, Anastacia Chepkoech, Sheila travelled to Australia on April 5 with hopes of building a brighter future.

Like many young Kenyans seeking opportunities overseas, she reportedly left home carrying dreams of growth, stability, and success.

News of her sudden death has shocked many who knew her, especially because her journey abroad had only just begun.

“Your absence is painful beyond words, but your dreams, kindness, and beautiful memories will forever live in our hearts. May God grant you eternal peace and give us the strength to carry this loss. You will always be loved and never forgotten,” Chepkoech mourned.

Messages of condolence and emotional tributes have continued to flood social media, with mourners describing her as determined, hopeful, and hardworking.

For those close to her, the pain has been made even heavier by the fact that she died so far away from home.

Sheila Jepkorir Chebii will be remembered by many as a young woman whose dreams inspired those around her, even as her life was tragically cut short far too soon.

Kenyan nurse dies day her twins graduated

Another Kenyan family based in Minnesota is mourning an unthinkable loss after a mother of three was found dead on her daughters’ graduation day.

Jessica had been reported missing on Wednesday, May 13, after she was last seen in the 9300 block of Fernbrook in Maple Grove wearing dark navy blue nurse scrubs.

Twins Rachel and Silvia had just graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing when tragedy struck.
