The man stepped out of his car holding his phone, recording and documenting what was happening.

Why did Nairobi man confront police officer?

The Land Cruiser caused a traffic build-up as other vehicles were blocked from moving forward.

“You cannot be doing this. You are on the wrong side of the road, bro. Reverse your vehicle. All these people cannot turn back just because you want to go the wrong way,” he said, pointing at the long queue of cars behind him.

The two briefly engaged in a tense exchange, with the bold Nairobi man insisting that everyone should obey traffic laws, whether uniformed or not.

He moved closer while continuing to record the officer, who eventually gave in and reversed the vehicle.

“Just reverse. I am a citizen of this country just like you. What is the essence of ‘Utumishi kwa Wote’? What does it mean? You are meant to serve us. Just reverse,” he added.

The Land Cruiser eventually reversed, allowing the man and other motorists behind him to proceed.

Netizens react after Nairobi man confronts police officer

Davvy Del Kingsman:

“Let’s not praise ignorance. Police cars and ambulances are allowed… they might be responding to a situation. You and your ‘kiherehere’ will land you in trouble. Who even taught this one about rights?”

Edwin Maywa:

“Even an ambulance is not allowed to go the wrong side unless the siren is on, meaning there is an emergency. You didn’t attend driving school.”

Crème de la Crème:

“If you scratch a government vehicle, the driver will realise how expensive repairs are! No one is above the law. Using the wrong side is not the issue; the issue is if an incident occurs.”

Peter Kraine:

“This one went to driving school but ignored the lessons… vehicles allowed to be given right of way include police, ambulance, presidential convoy, fire brigade and military.”

Mutunga Robert:

“So this is Kenya. I love this confidence. If people were like this in life, things would be more interesting.”

Alexia Ambani:

“Someone give me the number of the person behind this voice. I have something I want to tell him and he should also tell the officer again.”
